Early Ferrari 206 GT Dino models were originally equipped with 185 R14 tires. However, these specific original tires for the 206 GT Dino are no longer in production. In the present day, the best tire for early 206 GT Dino is the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P, offering a suitable fit and maintaining the vehicle's classic appeal.
As the car evolved, later versions of the 206 GT Dino fitted larger 205/70 R14 tires. For these models, Longstone recommends the 205/70VR14 Michelin XWX. This tire is highly regarded and is believed to have been the original equipment tire on many of these later 206 GT Dino cars, providing excellent performance and historical authenticity.
Additionally, the 205/70 WR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 is another high-performance, period-correct tire for the 206 GT Dino. The 205/70 WR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 tire is particularly well-suited for the later 206 GT Dino models, offering both the classic aesthetic and the high performance expected by enthusiasts and collectors of these iconic Ferraris.

Ferrari Dino 246 16" Wheels
Some Ferrari Dino owners may be tempted to fit their cars with the later Ferrari 328 GTB 16” wheels. However, it is crucial to note that using modern low-profile tires on a 246 GT or 246 GTS will result in a significant loss of comfort and degraded handling compared to the intended rubber. The original tire specifications were designed to complement the vehicle’s suspension and overall dynamics, ensuring a balanced and enjoyable driving experience.
If your Ferrari 246 GT or 246 GTS Dino is already equipped with 16” wheels, the 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 is suggested to minimize the negative effects associated with modern low-profile tires.
Despite this, it is strongly advised to remain with the original 14” wheels and tires to preserve the vehicle’s intended driving dynamics and comfort. Sticking with the original wheel and tire setup ensures that these classic cars perform as they were originally designed, providing the optimal blend of handling, ride quality, and authentic driving experience.

As representatives of the renowned Ruote Borrani Milano, we can provide wheels from their extensive collection.

Ferrari Dino Inner Tubes
Our historic fitment guides indicate that the Dino 206 GT, 246 GT, and 246 GTS all used tubeless wheels. As such, inner tubes are not required for the Dino, providing that your tires are also tubeless, and your rims are in good condition.
If you fit wire wheels, inner tubes are a needed.
The correct Ferrari Dino inner tube for both 185 R14 tires and 205 R14 tires is the Michelin 14F.
Ferrari Dino History
The Dino marked a defining era for Ferrari from 1968 to 1976. The Dino name itself was a tribute to Enzo Ferrari's late son Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, who played a role in the development of the V6 engine. The Dino badge originally separated these models from Ferrari's more traditional, powerful V12 cars. By 1976, the Dino brand was retired, and these models were integrated into the Ferrari line-up with the Ferrari badge.
The first model, the Dino 206 GT, entered production 1968 with just 150 units produced. It was the pioneer of the Dino series and was celebrated for its revolutionary design and excellent driving dynamics. After the 206 GT, the Dino 246 entered production in 1969 and became the first Dino model to be produced in significant numbers. 3,761 units were produced between the GT Coupe and GTS Spyder forms.

The 246 GTS, with its removable targa roof offered open-air driving to the Dino line-up, further solidifying its legacy as a blend of innovation and beauty. The 246, with its fluid curves and edges, evoked the design of earlier Ferrari models and is often considered one of the most elegant-looking Ferraris.
Despite its beauty and performance, the Dino is sometimes overlooked by purists on the basis that it is not a 'proper' Ferrari, though it remains one of the prettiest models in Ferrari's history. The success of the Dino demonstrated the potential and performance benefits of smaller, mid-engine designs. Today, Dino models hold a special place in the classic collector market, revered for their design purity and historical significance in Ferrari's storied lineage.
Ferrari Dino Tire Pressure & Fitment Guides
Recent improvements in rubber compounds, safety standards, and tire manufacturing methods have prompted questions regarding the relevance of traditional tire pressure figures. This issue was discussed in a recent conversation with a representative from Pirelli.
"Our philosophy is to reproduce as closely as possible the original tire characteristics using new processes and materials thus to maintain the handling of the vehicle the same. This means, yes we maintain the original handbook pressures.”
